Corrales, New Mexico
The Rio Grande Bosque in Corrales, New Mexico is wild and unruly. Prickly thickets surround the Winter Trees and provide habitat for many species of animals and migratory birds.
Hummingbirds In The Trees
Three years of cultivating habitat to transform my back yard into a hummingbird sanctuary is finally starting to pay off! All the Desert Willow trees that I planted from seed in the spring of 2018 are finally getting big and blooming profusely thus providing hummingbirds with plenty of nectar and safe places to perch.
In this post, I will discuss ten fun facts about hummingbirds and, naturally, there will be plenty of photos!
Not everything people say about hummingbirds is true.
Over the years I've been told all kinds of crazy things about hummingbirds. Since I began feeding and photographing them, I've fielded a number of interesting questions and encountered a wealth of misinformation.
The need to ensure that I wasn't doing anything harmful led me down a path of extensive research and I can now say that I am fairly well educated on the topic. That being said, I would like to take this opportunity to address some common misconceptions about hummingbirds.
A Backyard Sanctuary
With the incessant drone of bad news thumping like drunk ranchero music in the middle of the night, it is becoming increasingly necessary to turn down the volume on the world at large.
I spend a lot of time outside where the wild things are. There's a whole other world just beyond the door.
I am DeAnna Vincent, fine art and portrait photographer in Los Lunas, New Mexico. These are the photos from my everyday adventures.
